About Us
Hi, I’m Katie—the proud owner, trainer, and breeder behind Sophia Jade's Chi Brigade. I live in the beautiful Augusta, Georgia area with my daughter, Sophia Jade, who is my inspiration for everything. We share our home with our pack of balanced chihuahuas and an occasional litter or two!

Why I Became A Breeder
Dogs have always played an integral role in my life. My dream of becoming a breeder began around the age of 10, when my family set out on a journey to find our first family pet—a black pug we named India. When we finally found her, I was forever impacted by the woman who handed me that perfect smush faced baby dog. India went on to become my first heart dog and very best friend. It was that moment that I set out to someday have the same impact on others—by uniting families and kids with their new forever best friend! It is a joy!

My Journey to Becoming a Breeder and Trainer
Throughout high school and college, I worked a variety of jobs in the world of dogs and veterinary care. After graduating college in 2003, I felt a deep call to serve my country following the events of 9/11. At 24 years old, I joined the military—and my love for dogs came right along with me. I had the honor of serving as a K9 handler in the U.S. Marine Corps under President George W. Bush (43). That experience ignited my passion for dog training and became a cornerstone of my journey. The knowledge and skills I gained during that time have been integral in shaping the breeder and trainer I am today.
In 2016, I unintentionally discovered the chihuahua in all its magnificence and as they say, "the rest is history." I became completely captivated by these little dogs, finding them to be one of life’s hidden wonders. I’m absolutely drawn to the sensitive and curious nature of the Chihuahua and they’re a breed that fits so naturally into my life. Despite their tiny size, they are incredibly adaptable and full of personality.
Very early in my breeding career, I began raising each puppy with an intentional and carefully structured protocol, inspired by a modified version of Puppy Culture. As a result, our puppies transition to new homes very well and grow into confident, healthy companions who are less prone to fear, reactivity, excessive barking, and other behavioral challenges. My heart is most at home when I’m raising and training Chihuahuas. I truly believe it is the work I was meant to do.
